New brand “Shinnosuke” debuted in 2017.
Shinnosuke is a brand of rice that is a late variety of Koshihikari, and was selected from 200,000 rice plants, taking about eight years to complete. Larger and shinier than Koshihikari, Shinnosuke grains have a strong stickiness and elasticity, and a rich sweetness spreads softly in the mouth when chewed.
The firm texture is very satisfying and can be eaten with side dishes, or even as white rice on its own. Since each grain is firm, the quality does not deteriorate easily even when cold, making onigiri (rice balls) and bento boxes tasty to the last.
